Info Via Facebook Event: Join us for an enchanted evening of bellydance! Belly dance is one of the oldest forms of dance and has been growing in popularity all over the world in recent years. In the Middle East, the dance is more commonly called, "Raqs Sharqi." It is believed that the dance first came to America in 1893 at the Chicago World's Fair. During that time, the Hollywood film industry sought to capitalize on the peaked interest in this new exotic dance form, and this contributed to the transformation of the dance from a folk dance that was passed on from generation to generation as a performance art. Local dancers, as well as traveling professionals, will be presenting various traditional and fusion styles in this exciting show.
