“Art in April” Art Auction and Gala

On Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m., the Friends of St. Alphonsus is hosting the public at our annual “Art in April” Art Auction and Gala, held at St. Alphonsus Church, 2025 Constance Street, New Orleans. Celebrity hostess Peggy Scott Laborde will lead festivities, which will include the live auction of a George Rodrigue Blue Dog silkscreen print, titled “The Three Amigos” (pictured above). This print is not for sale in any Rodrigue Gallery and is only accessible to the general public through charitable organizations.
Other notable artwork available includes “Sunflower” by New Orleans native George Schmidt, “Portrait of a Man” by Tamara de Lempicka, and multiple original pieces by Covington artist Gianna Salande. Salande recently spent a year restoring to its former splendor the church’s “Reclining Jesus” statue, which will be on display at the Gala.
Tickets to the Gala include specialty drinks and local cuisine from numerous local restaurants, and a harp performance by renowned harpist Ivory McCann (www.ivorymccann.com). Cost is $40 per person ($75 per couple) for tickets purchased in advance, and $50 per person ($95 per couple) purchased at the door. Secure parking is available.
